5 loops of ~20 miles each, navigated by compass and a course map runners must build themselves from hidden book pages — no GPS watches allowed. Start date is secret until roughly a day's notice; the date here is estimated from the historical late-winter window. No live tracking exists by design — the only updates come from Keith Dunn, posted from the campsite to X as the race unfolds. Most years have zero finishers.
